Emerald Ball Raises $205,000 for Kids & Families

This year’s Emerald Ball was an unforgettable evening of inspiration, generosity, and community impact. Thanks to the incredible support of our guests, sponsors, and donors, Lincoln Families raised more than $205,000 to help provide educational and mental health supports for children, youth, and families throughout our community. The evening celebrated the power of coming together to create brighter futures and ensure young people have the resources they need to thrive. From heartfelt stories to meaningful connections, the event was a powerful reminder of what is possible when a community unites around a shared purpose. Although the evening has ended, the impact of the generosity shown that night will continue throughout the year.

Preparing Graduates for Their Next Chapter

This year marks the third year of Lincoln Families’ Senior Backpack Initiative, helping graduating high school seniors transition from our programs into their next chapter. We are proud to celebrate 77 graduating seniors, each with a plan for what comes next—including college, vocational or trade school, and the workforce. Of those graduates, 62% will be attending college this fall.

To support their journey, every senior received a new backpack filled with essential supplies, along with a laptop to help set them up for success. More than just practical tools, these backpacks represent encouragement, opportunity, and our continued belief in each student’s potential.

Please join us in congratulating the Class of 2026 on their hard work, perseverance, and achievements. We can’t wait to see all they accomplish next.

Community, Connection & Leadership at OFS

Oakland Freedom Schools (OFS) continues to create transformative summer experiences for youth and families through literacy, enrichment, leadership, and community connection. This summer, OFS is expanding opportunities for scholars through exciting partnerships and guest speakers, including ongoing planning to welcome the Golden State Valkyries back to engage with students. OFS is also collaborating with Dr. Wilson, President and CEO of the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools®, on a potential listening session with staff and families to strengthen community voice and engagement. In addition, Northern California Freedom School sites are coming together for a collective National Day of Social Action at the Chase Center on July 17, empowering young people to see themselves as leaders and changemakers. Experiences like these help OFS scholars build confidence, strengthen school engagement, and deepen their connection to their communities.
